Knowing Jesus as your Savior, Lord, and Friend is truly the most amazing thing that could ever happen to you!
If you are like most people, you know that you are not perfect. Even if you think that you are a pretty good person, you will admit that you are not and cannot be perfect. You also know that there is a God behind everything that goes on in this world. Only those who choose to continually ignore their own hearts can say that this world is purely accidental (meaning that their own lives mean nothing!). The heavens and earth declare the glory of God, and He speaks to us through everything around us, if we will only listen.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
After admitting the first two facts, (1) that you are not perfect, and (2) that God exists and is in control of this universe, then you come to a third realization. (3)You are not good enough to be friends with this God, or to be accepted into His Kingdom.
Thanks be to God and Jesus His Son for this next fact: (4) Jesus Christ has come to earth and taken your sin (mistakes) and shame unto Himself, giving you His perfectness, His righteousness, and a chance to come to God through His free gift of forgiveness for all that you have done wrong!
But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
If you want to come Jesus, asking for a new life, and a chance to be part of His family, then the steps are very simple! There is no "magic" prayer that will get you to heaven, so don't expect it to be that easy. But all you must do is come to Jesus, admitting that you need Him, asking for His help and forgiveness, and giving all control of your life to Him, because He is God, and you are not! Then...do that every day from that day on!
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
A - Admit that you are a sinner (that you have done things wrong that deserve punishment)
B - Believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior, and the only way for you to be saved
C - Confess (speak out) that Jesus is Lord, and that you repent of your sins (saying you are sorry and turning around into a different direction of action), asking for His forgiveness
D - Decide to follow Jesus (do what He says) for the rest of your life!
Knowing Jesus is a relationship. This means that to really know Him, you must spend time with Him, just like you would with a new friend, getting to know Him. Spend time talking to Him in prayer. Listen for His voice - He will speak to you! Read your very own copy of His letters to mankind - the Bible. Ask Him to help you know Him more. Be open and honest.
