Recently, we've come to the realization that it doesn't really matter that much what we plan to do for God, but it matters more that we are willing to take whatever situation He puts us in and just live for Him there, in that moment.
It sounds like something simple that we should all know, and yes, we did know it. But practically living it is another matter. God is bringing us to the point of being willing to be used anywhere, anytime, anyway. Not that we have attained it, but we are in training. :)
So, in saying that, we have been doing a lot of things this past year and a half that we didn't neccessarily "plan" to do. It wasn't in our dreams of things to do for God, but apparently it was in God's dreams. We hope that we can help make God's dreams come true.
We have been involved quite a bit with the minority peoples of Hong Kong, including many refugees. Craig has had the privilege of doing leadership training with some refugees on Wednesday mornings. Many of these people have come from very tough circumstances. God is working in their lives, and many are becoming leaders that can minister to others.
We have also had the priviege of being involved with a group of refugees from Sri Lanka (an island off the south side of India) who live very near to us. They have started a fellowship meeting on Friday nights in the park, with about 25-30 people. It has grown very fast, and there is a great Sri Lankan couple leading it. It's amazing to see what God is doing in people's lives, and we pray that God's Spirit will continue to work and draw everyone who comes to the meeting closer to Him.
Tammy and the kids are still attending Kid's Club on Saturdays. This is a ministry of a couple friends of ours to the minority people of our area. Currently, there are kids from Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka attending the Kid's Club. They are great kids, and we have really come to know and love them. Some of them come from Christian homes and are actually quite mature Christians. Some are in between, and some are not Christian at all. But they all get to learn more about Jesus, and see His love in action.
Besides these regular activities, we are also involved in opportunites that God brings our way on a day to day basis. Many of these opportunites come through our church, The Vine. We really believe that God is using The Vine to be a catalyst for advancing His Kingdom in Hong Kong and Asia. We feel privileged to be partnering with them.
Thanks so much for partnering with us to see God's Kingdom advanced in Asia! We can't fully express our gratitude, but we hope that you know how important you are to us. Your gifts, prayers, and friendship are priceless!
Remember, every day is an opportunity! Let us know how you are spending yours!
